Belvedere House was completed in 1740 by Robert Rochfort who later became Lord Belvedere. Robert’s matrimony plans would not be deemed straightforward to say the least. After the death of his first wife he remarried a young Dublin debutante Mary Molesworth, who after having four children in four years with, subsequently imprisoned her under house arrest under a charge of an alleged, never proven, infidelity at his family home in Gaulstown Park. Mary was only released upon Lord Belvedere’s death in 1773.
However, don’t let the past deter you from exchanging your marriage vows or celebrating your wedding at Belvedere House, Gardens and Park. The symbol today of Belvedere is the Passion Flower and whereas the tale of ‘The Wicked Earl’ dominates the past, the future unions on the estate should fare much better.
We at Catoca Fine Food pride ourselves on the quality and freshness of our food and in our level of service to ensure that your special event is as memorable as the setting itself.
We offer a bespoke wedding reception service in conjunction with Belvedere House, Gardens & Park which can cater for all types and sizes of wedding reception. Also, Belvedere House and the Courtyard are officially recognised venues for civil ceremonies. Having your wedding ceremony and/or reception at a stately home location provides for a unique experience and cherished memories for both you and your guests. The magnificent parklands, house terraces with views across Lough Ennell and Victorian Walled Garden with its tumbling herbaceous borders are a delight for the senses.
CaToCa, as Belvedere’s catering partner, can arrange dates and preferential room and courtyard hire rates for your event as well as providing varied menu options.

“As a veteran of four daughters' weddings I had never before been specifically congratulated on the Food. In far from favourable conditions you and your team performed miracles to produce a meal that deserved all the praise it prompted.
Thankfully we have no further daughters to marry off. But to those who do I heartily recommend your catering. It was simply superb.”
